The Roos Property is one of the only open pieces of land available in Forest Park. The Roos Building is a landmark building in Forest Park. At this time, the blighted property has been vacant for more than 5 years. There has been dumping on the property, "tagging" and vandalism to the inside and outside of the building.
The Park District of Forest Park is interested in acquiring the Roos Property. The building and lot at the corner of Harrison Street and Circle Avenue sits directly to the east of the Park's location. On February 2, 2010, the Park District of Forest Park has placed a referendum question on the general primary election ballot to purchase, develop and operate facilities on that property.
With the input of residents of the village, the Park District plans to turn the property and building into a multi-use facility that serves people of all ages. These plans are an initial proposal for use of the space. Be part of the development team along with the Board of Commissioners and Park staff.
